Dee Dylan Gearhearth

Dee’s Story

Dee grew up in the coastal sage scrub of Northern San Diego county learning much from the fiery landscape, their Mother and family. After living amongst the redwoods and studying Industrial Design at Humboldt State university they amended their design skills by studying ecological design with Siskiyou Permaculture. There they recieved their PDC along with certificates in social forestry and optical surveying.

During the years of living in the rural of the Willamette Valley of Oregon, the Northern Bay Area, and currently the Santa Cruz Mountains and Oakland, Dee has accumulated experience in a wide range of landscapes and design projects. Being mentored in wildlife ecology and nature connection, Dee approaches landscaping in a seasonally appropriate and holistic way.

Dee is most excited to plant native, edible and medicinal plants that provide habitat, food and shelter for wildlife.
Oaks are one of their favorites! They also enjoy building with small diameter round logs they harvest when doing forestry. Using their surveying skills they do earthworks to create trails, terraces, swales and rain gardens. As a trained wildland fire fighter, they enjoy doing prescribed burns, burn piles and repairing our relationship with fire, even in the urban setting.

Most importantly, they find the work of connecting people with their landscapes through sensory meditations, explorations, and nature education to be their life work.
